The Sting

Back to overview

The Sting is a Dutch fashion chain that is present both in the shopping districts and online. The company is characterized by a no-nonsense mentality, with humor and freedom as core values.

Modern Stores

In 2016, The Sting wanted to start using iPad minis in stores. Bart Overbeek informed Root3 about this wish and this led to an efficient solution from Root3 to set up the iPads.

“In 2016, we decided that we wanted to work with iPad minis in our stores. We wanted a solution where the iPads have an ordering option for the store employee. The employee can then help a customer if a certain item is not in stock in the desired size or color in store.”

This wish mainly arose from a large number of creative people in the office who like to work with macOS and are used to it.

“However, we have many creative people in our office who are used to working with macOS, because the design software works well on it. Our knowledge of macOS is limited internally and we have been using the knowledge and expertise of Root3 for a number of years now. They help our Mac users once every two weeks with all their questions and problems.”

It’s a win-win situation

Root3 ensures that The Sting can get the built software installed on all iPads in a convenient way. This means that if you turn on an iPad in The Sting, it will automatically be provided with the correct software. This means, among other things, that mobile devices can be managed remotely. Think of blocking remotely, installing or updating software. This saves The Sting time and costs, says Bart Overbeek:

“Probably both, because by arranging it this way we can easily provide our iPads with software. Root3 has in this way contributed to The Sting being able to take advantage of a number of functionalities and benefits of the Apple products.”

Bart Overbeek is satisfied with the way of working and the cooperation with Root3: “They are very eager to bring these kinds of handy configurations to our attention. In our case, they have also signaled that well. We have not made very clear-cut agreements about the use of Root3. We asked them to help, but we didn’t have to make a whole planning for it. The people at Root3 have responded very flexibly to that. This is also in line with our corporate culture: no-nonsense, pragmatic and with a lot of freedom. We are therefore always looking for partners who fit in with this and can switch flexibly with us; Root3 is such a party.”
