In conversation with Martin van Diemen

What is the origin of Root3, and how has it grown and changed over the years?

Root3 emerged from the opportunities we saw in the business market with Apple platforms. Apple’s products are fantastic, and their potential in the business market was often overlooked. By capitalizing on these opportunities, we offer users a secure and pleasant workspace.

What are some key lessons that Root3 has learned?

As a techie, I faced numerous new challenges. Suddenly, I found myself on the other side of the table. It took some years to fully embrace this shift and focus on what you’re good at while outsourcing tasks where you may not excel.

Are you satisfied with the choices you’ve made?

There are always things that can be improved. Yes, I am quite critical. But looking back at the past ten years, I am incredibly proud of where Root3 stands now, the team that represents Root3, and, of course, our clients.

What are some of the biggest challenges Root3 has faced over the years?

Finding new colleagues with in-depth knowledge of the Apple platform and its surrounding ecosystem is scarce. Therefore, we select new colleagues whom we can train to that level. We prioritize quality over quantity.

What are your future plans and objectives for Root3?

How do you like to spend your spare time?

Work-life balance is crucial within Root3. I am almost always engaged with Root3. But outside of work, I enjoy moments of tranquility, riding my motorcycle, surfing, going for a run, rowing, or simply enjoying a terrace in Haarlem.

What inspires you?

How do you view Microsoft / Windows?

It’s fantastic to see how Microsoft and Apple collaborate. Microsoft Office on Mac/iPhone/iPad has undergone a true revolution over the years. As a result, Apple works excellently in a Microsoft environment. Additionally, Apple provides numerous integrations with Microsoft that benefit businesses. We are here to leverage those opportunities.

What is your advice to others?

Remain realistic and accept that setbacks are part of the journey to success. Learn from them, adapt, and persevere.
