Systemic Justice is a Dutch NGO. The organisation has a specific and conscious focus on working with partners – grassroots social organisations – on issues of racial, social and economic justice. These include matters relating to housing policy, social protection, or how groups are profiled and targeted with specific policies. Systemic Justice reverses the normal power relations. It is not the solicitor, but the organisations in question that take the lead in setting the strategic direction; after all, they are closest to the injustice. Systemic Justice does not charge these partners any fees, which is made possible by funding from philanthropic foundations and individual donations.
Support for a remote team
Andreas Reventlow has approximately 15 years of experience in non-profit organisations in various roles and has been working at Systemic Justice as Head of Operations since 2021. In this role, he is responsible for finance and administration, risk management and compliance, HR projects and IT. The organisation had a specific need in the area of IT, Andreas explains: “All our employees work from home, in different jurisdictions across Europe. I needed a solid solution for managing our devices and had already made a number of strategic decisions. We wanted to work in a Microsoft environment, with a Mac, and we wanted to use device management that spoke ‘the language of Mac and Microsoft’ at the same time.”
Jamf proved to be the best solution, and Andreas started looking for providers. “After reviewing a few other providers, Root3 emerged as the best match. They had a very good intake process and offered us a tailor-made solution. We needed a solution that responded to our modest needs at the time, but that was also scalable with a view to the future. Root3 made sure it worked for us.”
Premium Services
Systemic Justice uses Premium Services, including the App Catalog, with licences for Jamf Business (Protect and Connect).
Because the organisation is small and Andreas fulfils many different roles, he cannot devote all his time to IT. “That means I need a partner who can help me when something goes wrong. A partner who can provide the necessary backbone support by ensuring that everything works, that policies are enforced and that everything is up to date. And finally, a partner who can work with me on special needs. Root3 is that partner, and we have a regular meeting within Premium Services to discuss the state of affairs.”
Andreas mainly uses Jamf, the remote management software, plus the security software that also ensures synchronisation with the Microsoft environment. “If people lose their laptops, I can remotely wipe the device and ensure that our information is secure. Because we don’t work in a physical office, it’s great that we can simply order a laptop and send it to our new colleague. He or she can then turn on the laptop and log in, after which a download starts of everything I want to have ready for them. This system makes the onboarding process super easy from an HR perspective.”
Results and benefits
Security and efficiency
Root3’s solutions give Andreas peace of mind. “We work with sensitive information and want to be sure that our devices and information are secure. The way we work with Root3 also makes the onboarding and maintenance process more efficient. This way, I don’t have to configure each device individually – I can simply push the policy to all devices.”
Data retention and protection
Data protection is important for all companies and organisations. “We pay extra attention to our data retention and protection policy. This is, of course, stipulated by the GDPR, but we also want to ensure that we do not store sensitive information about employees, partners and cases for too long. That is not in our interest. There are Microsoft solutions that make this possible, and we are working with Root3 on this.”
Root3: continuity and proactivity
How does Andreas view Root3 as a partner? “I see myself as the first line of support, but if I can’t resolve an issue, Root3 can step in, which is extremely helpful. They are responsive, resolve issues quickly and are friendly. We’ve been working together for about three years now, and I’ve always dealt with the same two contact persons, so not just any random helpdesk employee. I like the continuity and stability that this provides. They know about any issues and understand how we work.”
Andreas also appreciates Root3’s proactivity. “They inform me about security issues I need to be aware of. They make suggestions that are genuinely useful, not just because they want to sell something. It’s about more than just maintaining the status quo; it’s about proposing improvements and ways to make things smarter.”
The future: easy scalability
Systemic Justice currently has a core team of 10 people. “We are currently [at the end of 2025] recruiting and will grow to around 15 people in the coming year,” says Andreas about the organisation’s ambitions. “With Root3, we have a solution that we can also use to install and manage devices for a larger team. That’s important because IT solutions only become more complex as we grow. Whether we expand within Europe – or even beyond – Root3 has set up the solution for us in such a way that we can easily scale up.”
